Cold, Snowy Weather Expected During Lunar New Year

Korea will be gripped by another cold spell throughout the Lunar New Year holiday from Sunday to Tuesday, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration. Heavy snow is also expected in eastern Gangwon Province from Thursday to Sunday.

As snow or rain is expected in the midlands, including Seoul, on Friday, traffic conditions are likely to worsen as many people head to their parents' homes to celebrate the country's largest holiday with their families.

"Due to the influence of a cold continental air mass, the temperature will begin to drop on Sunday by three to nine degrees from last year, and the entire nation will fall under a serious cold spell throughout the holiday," the KMA said on Tuesday.
