SHINee's visit to London this week caused a stir at Heathrow Airport. The idol group left Korea on Tuesday to perform at an opening gala concert of the London Korean Film Festival, at an event dubbed "SHINee in London."
Although it was weekday afternoon, legions of fans bearing placards emblazoned with the names or nicknames of band members written in Korean gathered to wait. When the band appeared at the gate, the part of the airport became temporarily overrun by frenzied fans.
SHINee was scheduled to hold a concert at the Odeon West End Cinema in Leicester Square on Thursday afternoon. The concert has drawn much attention from fans and local media as it marks the first solo concert in London by a Korean idol group.
Odeon, Britain's largest cinema chain, saw its reservation system crash for the first time just one minute after ticket sales began as the concert drew an explosive response.
