The U.S. special envoy to North Korea, Stephen Bosworth, is likely to be replaced by Glyn Davies, now U.S. Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency. Sources in Washington said the U.S. government decided to replace Bosworth before the new round of talks with the isolated communist nation next week.
Davis became ambassador to the IAEA in 2009 after serving as principal deputy assistant secretary of state and is known to be well versed in nuclear weapons and disarmament issues.
Bosworth, a one-time U.S. ambassador to South Korea, has overseen U.S. policies on North Korea since the inauguration of the Obama administration but achieved little and kept his day job as dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
