Korea Takes U.S. Soldier Accused of Rape into Custody

A U.S. soldier accused of raping a Korean teenage girl was turned over to local authorities on Thursday, twelve days after the incident happened near Camp Casey.

The U.S. Army's second Infantry Division said a private first class soldier whose name has not been disclosed is currently under the custody of Korean authorities for allegedly raping an 18-year-old Korean girl last month at her residence near Dongducheon in northern Seoul.

The 21-year-old soldier was placed under U.S. military custody after confessing to sexually harassing the girl while he was drunk.
