Arrest Warrant Out for U.S. Soldier in Rape Case

An arrest warrant has been issued for a U.S. solider who is accused of raping a Korean teenage girl. The prosecutor's office will bring over the 21-year-old private with the Second U.S. Infantry Division in Dongducheon to take him in custody.

The arrest warrant was granted because of the seriousness of the crime and the flight risk he poses.

The U.S.soldier is suspected of attacking the 18-year-old girl, who was watching TV in her rented room, before fleeing with W5,000 he took from her (US$1=W1,179). He was allegedly intoxicated. Korean prosecutors have questioned him in the custody of U.S. military police.
