The JS Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung, on Wednesday announced the list of footballers who will play in a charity match to be held in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on June 15.
The inaugural Doosan Asian Dream Cup will feature world-famous football players including Park's teammate Patrice Evra, as well as Korean athletes playing in overseas leagues such as Park Chu-young, Lee Chung-yong, Ki Sung-Yueng, Lee Young-pyo and Jung Jo-gook.
Other famous players from Asia will also take part, including Jong Tae-se, who plays for North Korea internationally and Bochum in Germany's second-tier league, Hidetoshi Nakata and Daisuke Matsui of Japan and Li Weifeng of China.
A team comprised of these players will face the Navibank Saigon FC in Vietnam's first league. JS Foundation said, "This list is only those who have confirmed they will come, while the final roster will be released the day before the match."
The Asian Dream Cup is the first project by the foundation, which was established in February. Vietnamese online newspaper Dantri predicted the event will be hugely popular thanks to the large number of top international players. "Some 16,000 tickets have been distributed, but due to high demand many fans will have to resort to buying tickets from scalpers."
