Samsung Electronics, the nation's largest corporation, has reached the 100,000 mark in the number of employees at its headquarters.
According to its quarterly business report released on Tuesday, a total of 100,973 staff -- 68,086 men and 31,365 women -- worked at the headquarters as of late March, up from 95,659 at the end of last year.
The average employee has been with the company 7.9 years and makes a monthly salary of W5.4 million (US$1=W1,080).
The number of overseas employees of the company, which stood at 190,464 at the end of last year, is expected to surpass the 200,000 mark within this year.
The report showed that Apple was Samsung's biggest customer in the last three-month period with some W2.15 trillion in transactions. Samsung recently increased its supplies of mobile application processors and semiconductors to Apple.
