Korea and China are looking to open a hotline that will allow the countries' top defense officials to hold talks directly over the phone.

The Defense Ministry said Friday that Minister Kim Kwan-jin is likely to visit Beijing in June to meet with his counterpart Liang Guanglie to discuss the issue.

Korea and China already established hotlines between their navies and air forces in 2008 to help prevent accidental sea and airspace clashes, but they lack one directly connecting their defense chiefs.
