Travelers can soon fly from Seoul's conveniently located Gimpo Airport to Beijing. The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs agreed with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China to allow two national flag carriers from each country to start two daily round-trip flights between Gimpo and Shoudu Airport in Beijing from July, a spokesman said Tuesday.
Currently Korean Air operates 18 flights a week from Incheon International Airport, which is further from the city, to Beijing, and Asiana Airlines 24.
The two flag carriers will put a total of 14 flights on the Gimpo-Beijing route by cutting their Incheon-Beijing flights by seven each.
