A team of scientists at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has discovered a potential cause of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
According to the KAIST team on Monday, a lack of an adaptor protein called GIT-1 shows a strong association with ADHD susceptibility in humans.
The researchers compared the gene sequences of two groups of children with and without ADHD and discovered that those with a GIT-1 deficiency were more prone to the disorder.
The results of the study were published on Sunday on the website of Nature Medicine, a leading biomedical research journal.
