Most People Unsatisfied with Tap Water

A mere 2.6 percent of people drink tap water, a recent survey reveals.

In the survey of 974 adults nationwide for the Environment Ministry, 45.6 percent said they drink boiled water and 43.2 percent filtered water. Some 8.6 percent claimed they never drink tap water.

The proportion of people who drink tap water fell from 3.7 percent in a similar survey of 6,480 people conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs in 1997. In that poll, 90.3 percent said they drank boiled water and just 6 percent filtered water.
