Two additional South Korean civic groups have been granted governmental approval to send humanitarian aid to North Korea.
Seoul's Unification Ministry said Monday that the Join Together Society and World Vision Korea will together send some US$162,000 worth of porridge and milk powder to children in the North Korean provinces of North Hwanghae and Yanggang via land and sea routes later this month.
Seoul says it will continue to allow civilian-level transfers of humanitarian aid for vulnerable groups in the North such as women and children after carefully assessing factors such as the urgency of need and transparent distribution.
