Armed Libyans Raid Korean Construction Sites

Building sites in Libya operated by Korean construction firms have again been raided by mobs of local people in two separate incidents.

Seoul's Foreign Ministry said three armed robbers raided an office occupied by a Korean construction firm in Tripoli Monday afternoon (local time) and fled with US$2,500 in cash, but no casualties were reported.

Earlier the same day, a group of four gunmen attempted to steal a vehicle from another company's site in Tripoli, but fled when they were unsuccessful.

Five out of 118 Koreans who had initially chosen to stay in Libya are known to have left for nearby countries since Sunday, and another is scheduled to evacuate from Benghazi for Egypt soon.
