Girl band Kara's music videos topped Japan's Oricon DVD charts, making them the first foreign women to reach the top spot since DVD rankings were added in 1999.
Oricon news said on Wednesday that "Kara Best Clips," which features eight videos including "Mister," "Jumping," and "Lupin," sold 132,000 copies in the week since its release. It was a new record for the woman singer segment, exceeding the previous one of 99,000 set by Mai Kuraki with "First Cut" in November 2000.
Kara's agency said the record proved the band's popularity remains high in Japan even though some members sought to terminate their contracts with the agency.
