Kim Jong-un Nonplussed by Binoculars

North Korean state TV on Feb. 16 aired footage of leader Kim Jong-il's son and heir Jong-un holding a pair of binoculars upside down during an inspection of a military base in January.

The footage is all the more embarrassing since the inexperienced Kim junior has recently been appointed vice chairman of the all-powerful National Defense Commission. The propaganda has it that he graduated from the Kim Il Sung Military University, and he was given the status of a four-star general in September last year.

However, some experts say certain types of binoculars may look upside down.
