1 Dead, 2 Missing After China Fishing Boat Capsizes in Clash

Officials say one fisherman is dead and two are missing after a Chinese fishing boat rammed a South Korean coast guard vessel and capsized. The coast guard said eight fishermen were pulled from the water, but one was unconscious and later died.

Maritime authorities said Saturday that the 63-ton trawler intentionally hit the 3,000-ton coast guard ship as it was trying to curb poaching in South Korean waters.

Officials said four coast guard officers were injured when the Chinese attacked them with steel pipes and clubs. Coast Guard vessels and helicopters are searching for the missing.
