The pageant was sponsored by Chosun Biz, a business media website in the Chosun Media Group and others. The Chosun Biz award given to an outstanding student of economics or business went to Mathilde Florin of France, a 21-year-old student at University of Lille III.

The pageant commemorates the 1986 International Year of Peace. The contestants stayed together for 13 days and engaged in various volunteer activities. They also had time to experience traditional Korean culture, including a visit to Korea House in Namsan, central Seoul, to make bibimbap or rice with an assortment of vegetables and beef.
