The Legend of the Seas, a 70-ton cruise ship run by Royal Caribbean International, boasts 11 decks and measures roughly two football fields in length. The ship can accommodate over 2,000 passengers with a crew of 750 to serve them.

Every time such a large cruise ship pulls into port, it generates approximately W1 billion (US$1=W1,114) in economic effects, which has ports all over the world competing for a piece of the lucrative business.

With the Legend planning to adopt Incheon as its home port instead of a port of call, Incheon port authority officials are hoping to welcome even more cruise ships by expanding facilities and adding more immigration booths.

So far 15 cruise ships have entered Incheon's port this year. As most of the passengers, who are mainly from Europe and North America, choose to travel to Seoul for tours, Incheon city aims to develop local tour packages to encourage tourists to stay in the area.
