The national girls' football squad returned home to a hero's welcome on Tuesday after winning the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.
The team members and coaching staff gave a press conference upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, 39 days after they left Korea with ambitious goals.
With a beaming smile, Coach Choi Duck-joo said that the team's brilliant playing was the key to bringing home the prize.
Striker Yeo Min-ji also attributed her prize-winning performance to her teammates. She won the Golden Boot for the top scorer and the Golden Ball for the most valuable player by knocking in eight goals in the tournament.
After a luncheon with President Lee Myung-bak at Cheong Wa Dae on Wednesday, the girls will return to their respective school teams and begin preparing for next month's National Sports Festival.
