Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor were the only two Korean companies to make it on to this year's list of the world's top 100 brands by global branding consultancy Interbrand.

Samsung said Thursday that it ranked 19th for a second consecutive year. Its brand value jumped 11.3 percent on-year to US$19.5 billion this year.

Hyundai climbed four notches from last year to rank 65th this year. Its brand value increased 9.3 percent on-year, the highest growth among carmakers.

U.S. companies dominated the top 10, with Coca Cola retaining the top spot for a 10th year in a row. IBM came in second, followed by Microsoft, Google, GE, McDonald's and Intel.

Four Japanese companies were among the top 100: Toyota (11th), Honda (20th), Sony (34th) and Panasonic (73rd).
