Paju Offers Cultural Fun with Film Festival, Art Events

The city of Paju in Gyeonggi Province near the demilitarized zone is hosting a series of cultural events this month, including the DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival, the Paju Bookcity Book Festival, and the Heyri Pan Festival. Adding to the festive vibe will be the Inside the DMZ Photo Exhibition hosted by the Chosun Ilbo and the Ministry of Defense.

The 2nd DMZ Korean International Documentary Festival kicks off Thursday for a five-day run. Some 85 documentaries from 35 countries will screen at the festival, which opens with "Peace" from Japan. For more information, visit the festival's website at www.dmzdocs.com.

Inside the DMZ Photo Exhibition will display around 60 photos taken by Chosun Ilbo photographers that capture the wonders of the DMZ. The exhibition will tour the country, also stopping in Yeosu, Busan, Daegu and Incheon. For more information, call (031) 955-8612.

Meanwhile, Paju's Heyri Art Valley is holding the annual Heyri PAN Festival until Sunday. It features a variety of performances, concerts and art exhibitions as well as open houses and studios.
