Korean pop group Girls' Generation made a huge impression at their first showcase in Japan at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo on Wednesday. The show drew some 20,000 fans as well as nearly 1,000 reporters, PR officers and record label executives, reflecting the immense interest in the group there.
The band arrived in Japan on Monday at Tokyo's Haneda Airport, where they were welcomed by hundreds of passionate fans. "The nine members were surprised by the fervent reception, but greeted the crowd with bright smiles," Sankei Sports reported.
As part of their plan to expand beyond Asia and into the U.S., the pop group is scheduled to perform a concert in Los Angeles next week.
