Hyundai Engineering and Construction led Korean builders in terms of capacity in 2010 for the second year running. The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs on Thursday said Hyundai's construction capacity stood at W10.22 trillion (US$1=W1,186).
This is the first time that a builder's capacity surpassed W10 trillion.
Hyundai ranked at the top from 1997, when the evaluation was first introduced, until 2003. But it was overtaken by Samsung C&T and Daewoo Engineering and Construction between 2004 and 2008.
This year, Samsung came second with a capacity of W9.64 trillion, followed by GS Engineering and Construction at W8.28 trillion, up from fourth, Daewoo at W7.82 trillion, and Daelim at W7.59 trillion.
