Smashing Pumpkins to Perform in Seoul

U.S. alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, one of the most artistically acclaimed musical groups of the 1990s, will return to Korea for the first time in 10 years.

The band will play their second concert here at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul at 7 p.m. on Aug 14. Local fans hailed the Pumpkins for their passionate performance on July 4, 2000, and many were left brokenhearted when the band split up later that year.

The group returned to the spotlight in 2007 with their seventh album "Zeitgeist," named for a German word meaning "spirit of the times," but with an entirely new lineup except for group leader Billy Corgan.

In the upcoming concert, which will be produced and promoted by Seotaiji Company, the Pumpkins are expected to play tracks from old albums including their masterpiece "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness," which sold more than 8 million copies following its release in 1995.
