People can now see in detailed pictures of even remote areas of North Korea through satellite imaging.

Google Maps allows viewers to see satellite pictures of the North Korean landscape including houses.

When the name of a specific area is typed into the search function, Google Maps will show the exact location along with detailed pictures.

The system was created by Korean map experts to let North Korean defectors as well as Koreans who left the North during the Korean War catch a glimpse of their former homes.
