FIFA Team Wraps Up World Cup Bid Inspection in Korea

A FIFA delegation has finished its inspection of Korea as a candidate host country for the 2022 World Cup.

The five-member team, headed by Harold Mayne-Nicholls, told reporters at a press conference in Seoul on Sunday that it focused on stadium infrastructure and also confirmed the country's passion for the event.

During the four-day visit from Thursday, the delegation looked around Seoul Plaza and examined soccer stadiums in Seoul and Ulsan to assess whether the country meets the requirements to host the tournament.

Korea is making its second attempt to host the World Cup, following its successful co-hosting with Japan of the 2002 tournament.

FIFA will announce the host nations for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups on Dec. 2.
