China on Wednesday started a live fire exercise in the East China Sea ahead of a joint antisubmarine exercise by Korea and the U.S.
A Unit of the People's Liberation Army began the drill in waters to the east of Zhoushan and Taizhou in Zhejiang Province, the official China Daily quoted the Defense Ministry as announcing.
The exercise will last from midnight to 6 p.m. every day until Saturday.
PLA Navy ships will fire live ammunition at targets in eight fishery zones of China's exclusive economic zone.
The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong on Wednesday said China could launch its first anti-ship ballistic missile, the so-called aircraft-carrier killer.
