The North Korean football attracted worldwide attention after its brave performance against Brazil, when it lost 1-2 on Wednesday in Group G in the World Cup. Despite the loss, it held Brazil scoreless in the first half with a tight defense, and even when down by two goals it made a lasting impression on the world's football fans with a last-minute goal.

Striker Jong Tae-se received the most attention. While the North Korean team was heavily defense-oriented on the whole, Jong relentlessly ran in the Brazilian side alone and created a number of threatening chances. Jong was crucial in setting up the goal scored by Ji Yun-nam.

Thanks to his stand-out performance, there are rumors that some European clubs are trying to acquire him from Kawasaki Frontale in Japan's J League. Japanese sports newspaper Sports Hochi reported Thursday that Kawasaki Frontale is likely to receive calls from European teams soon, with VfL Bochum in Germany's Bundesliga the most interested.
