Usain Bolt Takes First at Daegu Pre-Championships

    Champion sprinter Usain Bolt won the men's 100 m in 9.86 seconds at the 2010 Colorful Daegu Pre-Championships Meeting on Wednesday.

    In his first 100 m of the season, Bolt beat fellow Jamaican Michael Frater who finished second in 10.15 seconds, but failed to break his own world record of 9.58.

    In the women's 100 m, Carmelita Jeter of the U.S. finished first in 11.0 seconds, ahead of rival Veronica Campbell-Brown from Jamaica at 11.05.

    In other events, Germany's Betty Heidler beat Russia's Tatiana Lysenko in the women's hammer throw at 75.28 m.

    In the men's 110 m hurdles, David Oliver of the U.S. won in 13.11 seconds, ahead of world record-holder Dayron Robles of Cuba.
