Former Dongah Group chairman Choi Won-suk and his wife Chang Eun-young recently ended their 11-year marriage. The Seoul Family Court on Friday said Chang (40) filed for divorce on April 9 and both she and Choi (67) accepted a settlement proposed by the court on April 20.

Lee Jae-man, the attorney for Chang, said, "Although a lawsuit was filed, both sides agreed to an amicable divorce."

Lee claimed the former chairman "felt sympathy for Chang, who got married at a young age and had to play many different roles as wife, stepmother, daughter-in-law and secretary. As he approaches 70 years of age, Choi felt it was best to let her go."

Lee added that Choi and Chang "still respect each other and share a sense of gratitude."

Choi and Chang married in 1999 in a wedding that drew nationwide attention due to the 27-year age gap. She was his third wife after the celebrity Kim Hye-jeong and Bae In-soon, a member of the band Pearl Sisters.

Choi was the Dongah Group chairman between 1977 and 2001 and is now head of a school foundation. Chang, a former Miss Korea, became a presenter for KBS in 1994 and was a star broadcaster in a host of programs until she retired following her marriage.
