Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will visit Korea from March 21 to 24 to receive an honorary doctorate in politics from Korea University, a Foreign Ministry official said Tuesday. It is Carter's first visit to Korea since he came for the Habitat for Humanity's Jimmy Carter Work Project in 2001.
On March 22, Carter will sign a partnership between the Caregiving Center at Cyber University of Korea and the Rosalynn Carter Institute at Georgia Southwestern State University, which is named after Carter's wife.
He will meet President Lee Myung-bak but does not plan to discuss the North Korean nuclear issues.
