U.S. House Bill Recognizes Contributions of Korean Americans

The United States House of Representatives has passed a bill that recognizes the socio-economic contributions made by Korean Americans.

It follows a unanimous approval of a resolution by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform last Thursday which aims to pay tribute to Korean Americans who have advanced U.S. society.

Kim Dong-suk, the former director of the Korean American Voters' Council, said the bill would change perceptions of Koreans and contributions that may seem minor compared with their economic influence there.

The bill is expected to further boost the political clout of Korean communities ahead of the mid-term elections in the U.S. in November.
