Kia Motors' U.S.-built Sorento was the second-best selling mid-sized crossover utility vehicle in the U.S. in February, outperforming the competing Toyota Rav4.
U.S. auto website WardsAuto.com said on Thursday that Kia sold over 8,207 Sorentos last month, tailing the Ford Edge by a margin of just 487 units.
A Kia official attributed the significant sales increase to a recent trend in the purchase of more fuel-efficient and reliable vehicles after Toyota's massive recall.
