A total of 1,124 salaried workers earned more than W1 billion a year in 2008, according to the National Tax Service on Friday (US$1=W1,157). Most of them were engaged in the manufacturing, finance and insurance, and services industries and lived in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.
Of the nation's total number of employed workers, 1.4 percent or 194,939 were paid an annual salary of over W100 million in 2008, up 19.3 percent from a year earlier,
Some 3,115 people made between W500 million and W1 billion a year, while 6,379 earned between W300-500 million, 13,514 between W200-300 million, and 170,807 between W100-200 million.
