Korea is the most politically stable nation among a group of 24 emerging economies, a global political risk consulting firm has found. Eurasia Group said Korea scored 77 out of 100 in its Global Political Risk Index, followed by Poland, Brazil and South Africa.
The index indicates each country's ability to cushion the impact of political shock in the areas of government, society, security and economy. The group's latest report also identifies Korea, China and Argentina as countries with an optimistic outlook for the future.
Eurasia told Yonhap News that Korea is very nearly a developed country but said its national security is still at risk, referring to the inter-Korean standoff.
