South Korean and Russian foreign ministers met over the weekend in Singapore to discuss North Korea's nuclear pursuits.
Seoul's top diplomat Yu Myung-hwan and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov held talks on the sidelines of the APEC summit which ended Sunday.
Details of their exchange have not been released, but reports indicate the two diplomats also touched on the political and economic situation in their respective countries.
The meeting came ahead of planned bilateral celebrations next year marking the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
