Michelle Wie has finally won her first LPGA title since her professional debut. After finishing as runner-up in this year's SBS Open and Navistar LPGA Classic, the 20-year-old Korean American won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club in Mexico on Monday (Korean time).

Wie hit three-under 69 in the final round, finishing the event with 13-under 275, edging out runner-up Paula Creamer by two strokes.

Wie shot to fame as a promising youngster with a long-distance swing that was as powerful as those of her male rivals during her amateur years. However she suffered defeat and criticism as she continued in competitions against men and offered disappointing performances in the women's tour. In order to secure her playing privileges this season Wie even had to go through the LPGA's qualifying tournament. Finally, with an LPGA title in hand, her struggles have been rewarded.
