The legendary funk band Earth, Wind & Fire is to play its first Korean gig ever on Dec. 17. Formed in Chicago in 1969, the band is credited with making funk accessible to a wider audience.

Its list of worldwide hit songs include "September," "Shining Star," and "Let's Groove," and have crossed the genre boundaries trying to incorporate jazz, soul, blues, pop, rock and gospel in its funk base.

With a career spanning 40 years, Earth, Wind & Fire released a critically acclaimed album titled "Illumination" in 2005 containing modern reinterpretation of funk tradition along with Outkast, Will.I.Am and Kenny G .
