North Korea is apparently dissatisfied with the South Korean government's offer of 10,000 tons of corn aid.
The state-run website Uriminzokkiri blasted the South Korean government for being "stingy" in offering aid to North Korea. "Empty cans make the loudest noise. The South Korean government made a fuss as if it would provide generous aid, but it just offered a few sacks of corn." The site claimed criticism of the parsimonious aid was growing in South Korea.
The government and the South Korean Red Cross offered North Korea 10,000 tons of corn, infant formula and medical supplies on Oct. 26. North Korea had been demanding significantly more. North Korean authorities have yet to respond to the offer.
