Obese People at 'Higher Risk of Contracting H1N1 Flu'

A recent study has found that overweight people are more likely to get the H1N1 flu than those who are not overweight.

According to the Los Angeles Times, a report published by the Journal of the American Medical Association shows obese people are at higher risk of developing complications from H1N1 virus infections.

Based on data gathered from the start of the outbreak earlier this year up until August, scientists have found that 25 percent of patients hospitalized for H1N1 flu complications were extremely obese, even though they make up less than 5 percent of the American population.

The rate of infection for overweight people was also five times higher than for those of average weight.
