Four ski resorts in Gangwon Province opened on Tuesday following the cold snap which brought with it snow up to 20 cm high.

Hundreds of people took to the slopes at resorts including Yongpyong Resort and Phoenix Park free of charge on the first day of business.

This year's opening comes about two weeks early compared with previous years.

Other ski resorts in the province are also scheduled to open by the end of the month.
