Michael Jackson's posthumous film "This Is It" made US$7.4 million its first day in North American theaters.

The movie opened on Oct. 28 in 99 countries. First-day overseas box office sales totaled $12.7 million for a worldwide total of $20.1 million.

"This Is It" will run for a limited two-week engagement.

Jackson's album of the same name is expected to debut at Number One with an estimated 300,000 copies sold its first week of release.
