Express bus passengers are now able to transfer buses at some highway rest area stations that opened Monday on the Honam and Yeongdong expressways, according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.

One advantage of the new transfer stations, for example, is that passengers traveling from Gyeonggi Province to Iksan or Gunsan in North Jeolla Province will be able to transfer at Jeongahn Rest Area rather than going all the way to Seoul to take the bus from the Seoul Express Bus Terminal.

According to the transportation ministry, the new system will make it easier for people traveling between small and medium-sized cities. The ministry expects that the new service will reduce travel time, distance and bus fares. Details of the routes are available at the Express Bus Lines Association Website.
