Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Celebrates Anniversary with a Bang

Rock and roll legends gathered at Madison Square Garden to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, performing at the first of two concerts aimed at tracing the roots of rock'n'roll history.

Musical legends including Bruce Springsteen, Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Sting and Billy Joel took the stage, delighting the large audience in attendance.

The concert's highlights included a long overdue reunion performance by Simon and Garfunkel as well as a uniting of past and present performers that saw John Legend crooning Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me" along with Stevie Wonder.

Tom Hanks was among the famous actors that showed up backstage. He talked about the impact that rock'n'roll had on him growing up.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame foundation was founded in 1983. Every year, a new group of musicians is inducted into the Hall.

The 2nd concert will feature Eric Clapton, Metallica and U2 among other rock'n'roll greats. All proceeds will go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation and Museum.
