The Kia Pride 1.5 diesel and Hyundai Verna 1.5 diesel are the most fuel-efficient cars offered this year, a report reveals. The two models took first place with a thrifty mileage of 22 km/l in the report on car fuel efficiency released by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy on Tuesday.
In the gasoline-fueled category, the manual transmission models of the GM Daewoo Matiz 1.0 and Kia Morning 1.0 boasted an economical 21 km/l and 20 km/l, respectively. Although they are compact cars powered by sub-1,000 cc engines, they were still less fuel-efficient than the Pride and Verna diesels which have larger engines and bodies.
But the automatic versions of the Matiz and Morning have mileage of 17.0 km/l and 17.4 km/l, less than the new LPG hybrid versions of the Hyundai Avante and Kia Forte, both of which have 17.8 km/l.
