There are considerable differences between the women's fashions men find attractive and those favored by women, a straw poll by cable channel Business& and the Chosun Ilbo suggests.
In the poll of 906 adult Internet users -- 476 men and 430 women -- men and women agreed they favored a neat-looking blouse, which got 37.6 percent of votes from men and 35.3 percent from women. But loose-fit layered T-shirts that covered the hips found approval among 34.7 percent of women but only 17 percent of men. Thirty-three percent of men instead preferred a tight T-shirt, as against 20.5 percent of women.
As for skirts, 56.5 percent of men liked miniskirts but 47.7 percent of women preferred a comfortable one-piece dress. In sum, women tend to prefer casual, comfortable clothes while men like to see a woman's body shape.
Long straight hair was once again men's favorite with a resounding 49.2 percent of the vote. Women preferred long wavy hair with 32.6 percent of the votes. Short hair was popular with a roughly equal minority of both sexes within the variance of the survey, with 11.9 percent of women and 9 percent of men.
◆ Shoes and Accessories
The differences were most keenly felt in terms of shoes and accessories. While 31.6 percent of women said their favorite style shoes are flat, 27.5 percent of men favored killer heels.
Staying with the comfort vs. sex appeal divide, 17.9 percent of women liked a versatile, large bag, as against only 8.2 of men. Men's favorite style for women was a shoulder bag.
Kim Jung-hee at the Samsung Fashion Institute said the result shows that women prefer "pragmatic yet fashionable items like a large bag and a pair of oversized sunglasses that cover their faces when they do not put on makeup. In contrast, men like items that accentuate the femininity of women such as miniskirts and high heels."
