Samsung Electronics occupied the number one spot in sales of liquid crystal display TVs in the first half, with LG Electronics coming in second, according to Display Search on Wednesday.
The market researcher said that Samsung sold 10.70 million LCD TVs in the first six months of this year, becoming the first TV maker in the world to sell over 10 million units during the slack season from January to June.
The company posted all-time highs in market share in terms of units sold (18.8 percent) and in terms of money (23.7 percent) in the LCD market in the second quarter.
LG Electronics sold 6.74 million LCD TVs in the first half, rising to second place after beating Sony which sold 6.54 million.
