Hyundai, Kia in the Running for 2010 U.S. Car of the Year

The Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group on Thursday said its Genesis Coupe, Forte, and Soul were listed as contenders for the 2010 North American Car of the Year. In January, the Hyundai Genesis won the prestigious award.

Jurors including journalists from the U.S. and Canadian automotive media and auto specialists will assess cars in categories ranging from design and safety to handling, and driver satisfaction. The nominees are 25 models from sedans to RVs and 12 truck models. Jurors will whittle them down to three finalists in each segment at the end of this year and announce the winners next year.

Hyundai-Kia's Veracruz, i20, Soul and Sorento were also among the 30 candidates for Europe's counterpart.
