All nine foreign hostages including a Korean woman who were kidnapped in the northern Yemeni town of Sadah last Friday were found dead on Monday, AP reported.
It quoted a senior Yemeni official as saying the bodies of three German women were found first, and those of the remaining six hostages, including three children, were also found later.
The Foreign Ministry on Monday night said, "One of the murdered hostages is presumed to be a Korean, given the clothes and body structure." She had earlier been identified as Um Young-sun (34).
The bodies were found near El Nasur, a mountainous village east of Sadah, considered a hideout of the Yemeni branch of al-Qaeda. Their faces were severely mutilated.
It is not known yet who killed them, but local tribal leaders told news services it had been al-Qaeda. The victims are Um, a German couple and their three children, two other German women, and a British man.
