London has been voted the dirtiest European city, the U.K. Independent said Monday. In a recent survey of 2,376 European travelers by tourism website TripAdvisor, London, the U.K. capital "took the unwanted accolade by a huge margin, with 36 percent reckoning London was the dirtiest -- well ahead of Paris in second place with 9 per cent," the daily said.
According to the poll of travelers, London saw its pride wounded as it also ranked top as the European city of the "most tourist traps" and the "worst cuisine." By contrast, Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, was considered to be the "cleanest city."
Prague was rated the best "bargain city" and Dublin the friendliest. Brussels was rated the most boring city.
Paris had the best-dressed people and the best cuisine. It also topped the list as the least friendly city.
But London saved face by winning best public parks. The Independent quoted one traveler as saying on TripAdvisor website, "I have traveled quite a lot and there are NO parks in the world like the ones in London."
